Solution for co-processing of general waste and medical waste
Combine autoclave and Magnetgas systems within municipal waste-to-energy plants.

Benefits:
-
Cuts emissions and energy costs by using turbine steam.
-
Generates up to 1,500 kWh green electricity per ton.
-
Avoids transporting sterilized residues.
EASE Solution
Build a co-processing facility for medical waste treatment by autoclaving within the municipal solid waste-to-energy plant to treat infectious and sharps waste. Additionally, install EASE’s Magnetgas System to process other medical waste categories (pharmaceutical, chemical, pathological) that cannot be handled by Autoclaves. In that way, each system is designed for its specific purpose and appropriated operating conditions.
Benefits of co-processing medical and household wastes in one single waste to energy plant:
-
Financial & Environmental
Utilize low-value/low-pressure steam extracted from steam turbines of the waste to energy plants to fuel autoclave, significantly reduce carbon emissions and energy costs. This first sterilization step also offers the possibility for recycling.
-
Green Energy Generation
Feed the sterilized and high-calorific residual waste into household waste incinerators to generate ~1,300–1,500 kWh of green electricity per ton of medical waste.
-
Logistics Optimization
Eliminate transportation costs and associated carbon emissions from removing sterilized residues to landfills.

Advantages of Magnetgas System Integration:
Treating pharmaceutical, pathological and chemical waste in household waste incineration systems requires 1100°C. However, household waste treatment plants' secondary combustion chambers only need temperatures above 850°C (typically around 1000°C). Processing such medical waste requires to raise the chamber temperatures beyond 1100°C, consuming substantial supplementary fuel. This increases energy consumption, carbon emissions, and operational complexity. Additionally, some pharmaceutical/chemical wastes contain corrosive or toxic substances with the consequence of early equipment’s damages with associated maintenance cost
Installing EASE’s Magnetgas System in the medical waste co-processing facility enables comprehensive treatment of all medical waste categories. The system provides ultra-low emissions, low operating costs, on-demand operation, and cost-effectiveness..
